Trebinje Congress Center
The Trebinje Congress Center is envisioned as a dynamic symbol of growth and development for the city of Trebinje. Situated in an undeveloped, non-urban area characterized by its karst landscape and lush macchia vegetation, the Congress Center serves as a multifunctional hub for education, economy, and culture. Designed to accommodate a variety of events and functions, the building embodies the spirit of progress while harmonizing with its natural surroundings. The whole facilities serve as a beacon of innovation and sustainability to upgrade the urban content and identity of Trebinje by activating the area concerned to gain in value as a desirable location for additional attractive facilities.
The concept is to design a harmonious blend of modem architecture and natural elements, seamlessly integrating architecture into the landscape. The architecture is characterized by stacking dynamic and contrasting massing blocks as a symbolic growth concept of urban environment and vibrant spirit of the community. Angular facets create an intriguing interplay of light and shadow, echoing the geological formations of the karst landscape. The dynamic massing creates a striking silhouette against the natural backdrop, with varying angles and heights that symbolize growth and progress. A juxtaposition of sleek, contemporary materials and organic textures mirrors the dichotomy between urban development and natural preservation. The exterior facade is a metaphor of musical composition in space.
The interior of the building boasts a flexible layout that can accommodate a wide range of functions, including concert and theater activities, exhibitions, seminars, business conferences, cultural events, and dining facilities. A central atrium serves as amphitheater connecting to a reflecting pool, become the oasis of the building. The skylight is allowing light penetration between floors. Natural materials and ample daylight create a welcoming and inspiring environment that fosters creativity and connectivity. Locally-sourced wood adorned the interior spaces of the Congress Center. The use of sustainable materials and construction techniques underscores the Congress Center's commitment to environmental responsibility. At the same time the intention is still maintaining the role in the urban environment as a manifestation of growth through the acceleration of city life in the form of architectural design concept with dynamic massing blocks.
